Library News - March 2019

  • Wirral Book Award 2019 Author Event

On Monday 18 March the Wirral Book Award 2019 Reading Group from year 9 attended the annual Author Event with Mrs Seed and Mrs Biggs, this year held at Bebington High and organised by the librarian Kate Williams. Five of the participating authors:

 

Matt Killeen –  Orphan, Monster, Spy         

 

Bryony Pearce – Savage Island                   

 

Tom Pollock – White Rabbit, Red Wolf     

 

 Martin Stewart –  The Sacrifice Box      

 

 

Will Sutcliffe – We See Everything        

 

 

talked about their work and answered questions, then signed copies of their books.

                                     

     

 

  • Thursday 7  March 2019 - World Book Day

This year for World Book Day we had a ‘Blurbs’ competition to see how well the pupils knew their books. They had to match the ‘Blurb’ to the book cover. We actually had 21 winners from all years proving what a well read  lot they are!

 

 

  

 

  • YA author Kathryn Evans visits Upton Hall

On Tuesday 19 March YA author Kathryn Evans visited Upton Hall to publicise her new book “Beauty Sleep”. She gave a lively talk about her life and work to Year 8 and 9 in the Assembly Hall and signed copies of her book. Her previous book “ More of Me” had been shortlisted for the Wirral Book Award 2017 and was a favourite amongst our Year 9 reading group at the time.
