Outstanding Netball performance!

Upton pupils compete in Merseyside Schools' Netball Competition.

Merseyside School Netball

On 26th April the year 7 netball team took part in the Merseyside Schools Competition. The team qualified for the county round in February after coming 2nd in the local Wirral schools round. The girls played extremely well and enjoyed playing in the sunshine throughout the day. The team successfully came second in the group stages, only losing to Scarisbrick Hall School who eventually went on to taking 2nd place, narrowly missing out on winning Vs Wirral Grammar in the final during extra time.

An unfortunate loss to Wirral Grammar in the semi final, lead to the 3rd Vs 4th place play off. The girls had nothing to lose and at full time drew 1-1 Vs Greenbank High School. A further 2 minutes of extra time then took place, an unfortunate injury to Ava  our GA saw the opposition counter attack and take the lead.

The girls were disappointed to take the 4th place spot after losing 1-0 in extra time. However, special mentions have to go to Eliza for excellent shooting throughout the day and Ruby  and Lexie were strong in defense with multiple interceptions.

The girls take this emotion and level of competitiveness into the next season starting in September. Well done to all the girls involved.
