Inspiring Young People

Drama

Details of the curriculum for KS3 and KS4 are included here split into Year group information.  Click on the relevant tab  on the left to access this.

The Department

  • The Drama Department offers a broad and ambitious curriculum and extra-curricular programme, intended to inspire all pupils and students to express themselves confidently and creatively.  While  developing an appreciation of drama, theatre and performances techniques, pupils and students are able to develop their communication and a range of transferable skills that will support them in the wider world and prepare them for a range of careers, professions and industries.
  • In experiencing  a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, pupils and students are encouraged to express themselves emotionally and imaginatively. They become spiritually, culturally and ethically aware through responding thoughtfully to drama, theatre, plays, characters and issues of social concern while developing their understanding, vocabulary and literacy skills through both verbal and written analysis, and self-reflection.
  • The impact of the Drama curriculum is that all pupils and students experience a variety of practical and performance opportunities where they gain, retain and evaluate the necessary skills and knowledge and develop as well rounded individuals, whilst maintaining high expectations for academic achievement. Drama students learn the value and importance of personal learning and thinking skills, research, presentation, focus, commitment, reliability and self-management. Valuable skills for their future.
