Inspiring Young People

Years 7 & 8

In Years 7 and 8, all of our pupils follow a broad and balanced curriculum designed to provide them with strong foundations for further study, to nurture a sense of enjoyment in their work and to give them a chance to develop their own passions and interests. We firmly believe that when our pupils can find ‘their element’, then they will achieve.

In years 7 and 8, the girls study either Spanish or French and in addition they study Mandarin Chinese.  We are very fortunate to have our own Confucius classroom which demonstrates that we are a centre of excellence nationally. In year 8,  pupils are introduced to a second European language.  Some girls will concentrate on just one language.

Year 7 Curriculum

In Year 7 many classes are taught in registration groups. In the technology subjects, the pupils are split into smaller groups to allow more individual attention. The year 7 curriculum is split up as follows:

*In maths, the girls are put into sets in year 8. This is to ensure that our able mathematicians are fully challenged and our less able mathematicians are fully supported to make excellent progress. For more information regarding the year 7 and 8 curriculum, please see the relevant booklet below.
