Year 7 Pastoral Structure

Our Pastoral Care

At Upton Hall School FCJ, we place great emphasis on pastoral care. We firmly believe that if your daughter is happy, she will learn effectively and flourish. Conversely, if she is unhappy or worried, she may struggle in lessons and find it difficult to build friendships. Ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and valued is the foundation of everything we do.

Form Groups

In September, your daughter will be placed in a Form with a tutor who has chosen to work specifically with Year 7 pupils. She will be assigned to one of the following forms: 7U, 7H, 7S, 7C or 7J. These letters represent the initials of Upton Hall School FCJ.

Form group allocations are carefully decided by the Pastoral Team, using information received from primary schools, details provided by parents, and a commitment to creating a balanced mix of pupils from a range of backgrounds and schools. In Year 7, all lessons are taught within form groups to help pupils settle in and build friendships. From Year 8 onwards, some groups may be mixed depending on the subject.

Each form meets with their Form Tutor three times per week for form time, assembly, and PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education). The team is led by Mrs Jones, Pastoral Leader, who helps ensure that all pupils feel supported and understand school expectations. The Pastoral Leader is in turn supported by Mr McAleese, Deputy Headteacher, who works closely with each year group’s pastoral team to ensure the wellbeing of every pupil.
