Current Affairs (Year 12 only) Current Affairs lessons are an opportunity for students to develop a greater understanding of our fast-changing world and their place within it. These sessions will examine a number of issues facing our country and explore how our students, as young citizens, can have their voices heard. Typical topics will include: Power: Who has it? How can we use this to deal with global threats such as climate change/threats against democracy? Safety: In a world with many dangers, how does the government try to keep us safe and do they do a good job? Our place in the world: How do other countries view Britain and what is our place in the world after Brexit? Migration crisis : How should Britain respond to the refugee crisis? The classes will respond to topical news stories. Topics will also be linked to students ’ future university and career choices. This is a rotation activity for Year 12 only Page 5
