Upton Hall School

Book published for former pupil!

We were delighted to receive the email below from Lynette Jarvis (née Phillips) informing us of her book publishing success...We would like to congratulate her on this achievement and offer her every good wish with the sales of the book.

"Bonjour Upton Hall,

Firstly, just to say how proud I am, as a former pupil, of the advances the School has made since I was there in the '60s. I wish we'd had a fraction of the facilities you have now.

I have recently had a book published which I think may interest you. I mention UHS in the early chapters. Currently only available on line, it is however being looked at by WHSmith and Waterstones vis à vis its possibility of appearing on their shelves as well as their websites. The best place to buy it at the moment seems to be:-

www.amazon.co.uk/Houses, History & Humour (A British Estate Agent In France) by L. Phillips ISBN 978-1-78610-238-6

My sister Suzanne was also educated at Upton, but unlike me, she was a high-flier; prefect, captain of this, captain of that, got great A levels and went on to become a University Lecturer in Melbourne, Australia. Returning to the U.K., she became the first Head of the Girls' Preparatory Section of Forest School, Snaresbrook, London. Sadly, she died in 1995. I am still in touch with several old Uptonians. It was 'a school for life' and I'm grateful for having been one of its pupils!

Cordialement,

Lynette Jarvis (née Phillips)"
