Pastoral Care
At Upton Hall School FCJ, pastoral care is at the heart of our school community. We pride ourselves on being a caring, supportive environment where every pupil is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. This strong pastoral foundation plays a vital role in helping our students succeed both academically and personally, regardless of their starting point.
From the very beginning of their journey with us, we aim to ensure that every pupil feels a deep sense of belonging. This ethos is embedded through our comprehensive induction process and is sustained throughout each student’s time at Upton.
All pupils are placed into one of five forms, each led by a dedicated Form Tutor who oversees the daily wellbeing of around 32 pupils. Form Tutors are a vital point of contact, offering guidance, encouragement and support.
Each year group is led by a Pastoral Leader, who monitors the overall welfare and progress of students, coordinating tailored interventions when needed. Pastoral Leaders also play a key role in communication between school and home, working closely with parents, carers and teaching staff to ensure each pupil thrives.
The pastoral team is led by Mr McAleese, Deputy Headteacher, who oversees the work of the Pastoral Leaders. In close collaboration with Mr Jones, Assistant Headteacher (Safeguarding and Pastoral Care), the team ensures a cohesive and strategic approach to pupil wellbeing, recognising that the welfare of each individual is integral to the health and harmony of the whole school community.
In the Sixth Form, students are placed into tutor groups led by experienced Sixth Form Tutors, who provide personalised support and guidance, helping students to navigate academic challenges and the transition to adulthood.
For each year group, you can access detailed information on the pastoral structure, key contacts, what to expect throughout the academic year and important milestones. This information is available by selecting the relevant year group tab on the left-hand side of this page.
