Year 7 Salters' Science Day
8 girls from Year 7 visited John Moores University for the day on Tuesday 10 May 2011 in collaboration with The Salter's Institute. The Salters Institute aims to improve the uptake of chemistry and encourage an interest in all aspects of Science.
The day began with a murder mystery investigation in which pupils carried out a range of forensic tests, in order to identify the killer from a list of suspects.
Police reports were also provided and the pupils worked together, comparing results, in order to confirm the killer.
The two teams from Upton correctly identified the killer and a representative from Salters commented on how polite the pupils were and how well they all worked together. In the afternoon, pupils were challenged by the university and again all pupils worked well in a team!
