Upton Hall's 11th Annual UCAS Interview Day

On Friday 10 July 2009, Upton Hall’s eleventh annual UCAS Interview Day organised by the Director of Sixth Form, Mr Donovan, for Lower Sixth students was held in the School Hall. The event has become an established feature in the Lower Sixth calendar.

It helps each Sixth Former to focus on the preparation of her UCAS application so that she can progress confidently towards a final UCAS application in the Autumn Term.

For several months before the event students have been researching their applications, visiting universities and preparing their all-important UCAS personal statements. Final drafts of these have been sent with Planning Forms to the members of our interviewing panel.

We are fortunate and grateful to have the assistance of staff of the following universities on our panel: Liverpool, Bangor, Liverpool John Moores, Liverpool Hope, Glyndwr, Chester, Salford, Central Lancashire, Keele, Stirling, Leeds Trinity and All Saints. We are also grateful for the support of Connexions Staff and independent volunteers.

Each student has a 20 minute interview followed by personal feedback. Detailed feedback is delivered to form tutors in the afternoon and conveyed to the students before the Summer Holiday.

In fact over 120 interviews took place this year in four hours of intense activity!

In the opinion of all the participants this has once again been a phenomenally valuable event and a very enjoyable day which highlights the warm relationship Upton Hall enjoys with a wide range of professionals in the Higher Education sector.

The challenge now lies with the new Upper Sixth of 2009-2010. Can they win the places at university as impressively as our outgoing Upper Sixth have done since UCAS Day in 2008?
