Dance Leadership by Ellie Ralphs, 10S
The course was based on learning teamwork skills, teaching skills and choreography skills as well. We designed our own dance leader putting key words which we thought explained a perfect dance leader and of course she was in a dance position.
We then did some team building games like standing on a bench and getting in alphabetic order but without falling off or you would be eaten by the crocodiles in the poisonous lake! We then had to race in three groups but with only 3 legs on the ground which was really tricky!
We then met the famous Mr Beat (but that’s all you’re getting for now!). It was then down to the planning of our warm ups. We used simple moves and energetic moves as well which would get the kids up and involved.
Over the first three days we learnt all different styles of dance and different sequences including Indian, street dance, Madagascar, the Hoedown Throwdown, Happy feet and even James Bond! We then made up our own dance sequences in pairs.

On the last day we made masks and other props for the children and practised teaching our sequences to each other.
We had The Little Mermaid, High School Musical, Grease, Lion King and even a bit of Thriller added into the mix! Everything in the entire four day course was fun and taught all of us some valuable skills.
