'Make it' Challenge for Year 9 Pupils

On Thursday 18 May, eight Year 9 pupils  and Miss Richardson took part in the Merseyside ‘Make It’ Challenge sponsored by Survitec and coordinated by the Manufacturing Institute, held at Anfield stadium.

The girls were given the challenge to design an ‘emergency pod’ that could be distributed to victims of natural disasters and act as a temporary home for twenty days. The girls had to design their pod, make a prototype, create a presentation, evaluate their finances and present their ideas to the ‘Dragons’ of Survitec, in front of all pupils and staff who attended on the day; almost 100 people!

The girls performed exceptionally well and as a result were awarded ‘Runners Up’, and have made it through to the North West Finals, to be held at Old Trafford in early July.

Louisa, Maisie, Pal, Jess, Rhiannon, Lucy, Rebecca and Emily all took part in the challenge.

Let’s see how they get on in Manchester in July...
