Every vote counts! Pupils from Upton Hall School are having their say in nominating the best paperback book of 2009. The twenty books, put forward by Wirral Schools' Library Service as the most entertaining and engrossing new titles, are all available to borrow from the school library.
Every year readers also have the opportunity to meet the authors of some of the books, and pupils from Upton Hall enjoyed the chance to chat with writers Michael Cole, Marie-Louise Jensen and Cliff McNish at Bebington Civic Centre on 11 March.
Each participating school will now make its selection from the original twenty titles, narrowing them down to three finalists. There will then be a final judging meeting to announce the winner in the Summer Term.
Further details and reviews of all the books are available on the Schools' Library Service website - www.wirral-libraries.net
There is a professional librarian available throughout the day to help and advise library users.

A library is a treasure house of ideas and imagination and sometimes of other things too! Tickets were hidden in different sections of the school library and a crowd of eager treasure hunters came to seek their fortune and mine the shelves for every gleaming card. Those who struck gold were invited to write a review of their book and prizes were awarded to the best entries which were from Hannah Tosi-Carter and Jodie Spence
