Inspiring Young People

Welcome to Upton Hall School

Quite simply, Upton Hall School FCJ is a lovely place to be. Walking the corridors of our school, you can literally see and feel the history and traditions that make Upton so special. Upton was founded over 150 years ago by an inspiring woman named Marie Madeleine. At the time, her aim was to provide education for the poor and to ensure that educational opportunities for girls were equal to those available to boys. Her vision was to instil into young women a sense of moral purpose so that they could go out into the world and make a rich contribution, living out our school motto, “Age Quod Agis” which translates to “Whatever you do, do well!”.  In this regard, nothing has changed, although the world around us has changed enormously.

Our mission as a Catholic school is to ensure that we help to form young people who will be good citizens of the world, loving God and their neighbour and enriching society with the uplifting message of the Gospel.  Catholic education is person centred. It promotes the dignity, self esteem and full development of each person who is made in the image and likeness of God. It also promotes a spirit of charity, social justice and global awareness.

As well as being proud of our heritage, we are hugely proud of the academic excellence that is achieved at Upton. Through constantly working to sustain outstanding quality in our teaching and learning, we aim for our students to become confident independent learners who engage in their education and therefore consistently achieve outstanding results. Upton is a forward thinking, outward looking and dynamic institution and together we are constantly looking for ways to improve. I believe that we do this very well. I hope that you enjoy looking around our website and exploring the wonderful opportunities that are available to all of our pupils and Sixth Form students.
